The Client &
the Challenge

As the top-producing real estate firm in Southern Oregon, John L. Scott Southern Oregon needed an annual video that not only showcased their impressive sales and marketing statistics but also reflected their leadership in the market. This video would be a highlight of the year-end holiday party, attended by nearly 200 agents and their families. My task was to create a fast-paced, energetic, and visually engaging video that maintained a professional tone while showing the firm’s worth and impressiveness.

Understanding
the Problem

When I took over this project, previous videos followed a simple formula—text reveals over drone footage of homes. While functional, the formula had become repetitive. I saw an opportunity to elevate the production by integrating more visually striking and brand-aligned elements. The video from Year 3, my favorite of the five I’ve created, marked a turning point in the style and impact of this annual piece.

The Creative Process

I started by gathering statistics from real estate reporting sites, social media platforms, and internal office members. With the goal of pushing creative boundaries, I adopted a modern minimalist collage aesthetic. This style offered a dynamic balance between vintage and contemporary, perfectly aligning with our company’s brand while maintaining a professional tone.

I incorporated black-and-white cutout photography to give the video a timeless, retro feel. Bold, colored geometric shapes were used to create strong contrasts and focal points, while noise textures added depth and a tactile quality to the clean design. Simple backgrounds were employed to keep the overall aesthetic minimal, allowing key elements like photos and shapes to stand out, enhancing the visual impact without overwhelming the message.4o

Design Execution

Throughout the process I conducted extensive research into different animation styles, iterating through multiple concepts to find the perfect approach. My attention to detail and careful timing ensured every element worked seamlessly together. By selecting music that enhanced the energy and flow of the visuals, I created a dynamic and engaging production that remained perfectly aligned with the company’s brand image. The result was a polished, well-executed video that showcased the firm’s achievements with precision and impact.4o

Impact & Results

This year’s video stood out not only at the holiday party but also online, as it was shared on social media and ran as a local ad. For the first time, I extended the aesthetic into printable sheets for agents to include in their listing and seller presentations. The cohesive look gave them professional tools to further their branding efforts. Additionally, we transformed the video elements into Canva templates for our agents’ ongoing use.

Reflection

This project was a milestone in my career with John L. Scott Southern Oregon, showcasing my ability to blend creativity with data. By pushing beyond the traditional formula, I was able to create a video that both excited the audience and aligned with our brand. I also learned the importance of maintaining flexibility in production, as technical challenges arise. The added bonus of creating printable materials and Canva templates made this year’s project the most comprehensive yet, providing lasting tools for the agents while enhancing my own skills in multimedia production.
